Pumpkin Carving Contest

Display your talents at the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Judging will be held both weekends, with submissions accepted in four categories:
- Child 10 and under
- Teens 11 – 17
- Amateur Adult 18+
- Professional Adult 18+
Meet nine-year-old Kyden, who was the grand prize winner for our first weekend! Kyden won a Villafane Studios prize pack, and an exclusive carving lesson with Ray Villafane. We’ll be displaying his winning pumpkin in the garden all week – stop by and check out his impressive carving talents (and by the way, Kyden’s got his own YouTube page too!)
Entry Fees and Location
Entry fee is $10 per pumpkin for youth/amateur and $25 per pumpkin adult/professional. One entry per person. Submission and viewing/voting for the contest takes place at the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce, 748 Easy Street, Suite #4.
Event attendees are encouraged to visit the Chamber to vote for their favorites. First, second and third place winners will receive a prize.
There will be pumpkin carving contests BOTH WEEKENDS. Each weekend separate contests will be held, with winners announced for each weekend.
Pumpkins must be CARVED – painted pumpkins will not be accepted.
Carved submission must be a pumpkin or a gourd.
Submissions should fit within the following size parameters:
– Kids/Teens/Adult Amateur – 2′ x 2′ x 2′
– Professional – 3′ x 3′ x 3′
Entries will be accepted each weekend beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. until noon on Sunday. Late arrivals will not be accepted.
Entry fee is $10, with 25 slots available in each of the following age groups:
- Children 10 and Under
- Teens 11 – 17
- Amateur Adults 18+
Entry fee is $25, with 15 slots available in the following age group:
- Professional Adults 18+
Event attendees are encouraged to view the submissions and vote on their favorites in each group. The top three submissions will move into Final Judging, which will take place each Sunday afternoon.
Winners will be announced and receive their prizes on Sunday, Oct. 21 and 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion Main Stage.
After the winners have been announced on each Sunday, entrants may pick up their submissions if they wish, otherwise they will be discarded at the end of each weekend’s contest.
Please be advised event hosts are not responsible for any damage/s and/or rotting that may occur prior to or after submissions have been entered into the contest. All reasonable care and precautions will be provided to entered submissions. No refund of entry fees will be provided for any reason.
